The Forgotten Chrysler/ Petty Kit Cars

From 1976 to 1978 you could walk into a Chrysler dealer and order a kit car in a box. Not just any kit car, a real performer with design input from Dale Earnhardt Sr., The Petty Group, the Arringtons, Chrysler’s Larry Rathgeb, and many other hot shots of the day. For around $10K you got a kit that included a tube chassis, a real NASCAR 355 W-2 motor, a choice of wheelbase and body style, and just about everything else you’d need except tires, paint, and gas. These “short track stormers” were professionally engineered and tested removing the guess work. Buy. Assemble. Race. Neato!
