Just my opinion, Merv was QUITE a driver, on both dirt and asphalt, but never seemed to get the recognition he deserved.
Yes, Jerry did drive the 38, but that doesn't look like him, and that definitely isn't Shangri-La....
It was '65-'66 for me too, then a brief resurgence in the mid-80s. We didn't have any juke boxes at any of the local tracks in the Rochester, NY area. The only "music" was the whine of sidewinder...
The mention of "slot cars"......Boy, does that bring back a ton of youthful memories.....
From my limited knowledge of the old coupes, as I was pretty young back then, I heard that some of the drivers had sort of a "periscope" mirror in those bumps in the roof. It appears to have made...
This is a little "off track", pardon the pun, but it's a great historical video from Oswego Speedway, borrowed from a thread at the racing website, 'raceNY'.....

Being an old Pontiac fan, I especially enjoyed the picture of Herb Adams' "Grey Ghost" Pontiac LeMans. That was a car that he raced in the Trans Am series for a while...

Bill, I think a couple of the old Gater Racing yearbooks have pictures of JZ in one of his Buicks.
Bill, thanks for the link. I took a quick look through it, but nothing mentioned there rang a bell with me. However, I think I really need to have a map next to me when I look through it again, to...
I have a trivia question for some of the "old historians". Although I've spent most of my life in western New York, I'm originally from New Jersey, with a brief stop in Pennsylvania in between. The...
That 330 LMB roadster is beautiful!
A friend of mine has an early-mid 80s 308. He took me for a ride in it once, but he had to roll me up into a little ball, and stuff me in the passenger...
I've too many stories about Facebook's security issues. I don't go there...
I went to Atlantic City for a few days...............
Ken,
Part of the reason my friend and I got talking about the Turner's Vega was because my friend has a super 6, or something like that, and was inquiring about being able to run with the 4...
Talk about irony...A friend and I were just talking about oval track racing in the "good old days", and I mentioned the Turner's sometimes Vega bodied car that they ran as both a modified as well as...
