The History of the Lexus LFA

Supercars are not built overnight. A great supercar is built, tested, redesigned, built, tested again and again until a certain level of perfection and achievement is reached. I can't imagine the feeling of pride and accomplishment one would feel wh... Read the rest of this article on DOGFIGHT!

The LFA never really caught my attention, but the fact that Toyota spent their own time and money developing their own techniques for working with carbon fiber is pretty cool! I've spent a fair amount of time around the stuff, and it has a pretty steep learning curve before you can use it effectively.

Remembering that it is built to be a street driven car, I found Motor Trends comparison for the "Best Drivers Car" pretty much panned the Lexus. It came in 9th out of 11 Supercars, stating that while it is the most exotic they got the Dynamics back wards. A Nervous chassis, a fussy transmission that shifts slowly and overheats, horrible ergonomics, and excessive noise and utter lack of isolation of mechanical chatter etc.
On top of that this $400,000 car only tied for 3rd with the Nissan GTR ($90,000) and Audi R8 ($200,000) on the road course, getting beat by the Corvette ($105,000) and the Ferrari 458 ($287,000)
I would think for that kind of money (3 to 4 times more than most of the competitors) and technology it should have spanked the rest but good! Seems like they missed the mark
