    1970 DeTomaso Mangusta

I found this on eBay and have been dreaming since. Take a Euro spec chassis and add AMERICAN horsepower and you get the best of both 1970 worlds. Plus, not much looks meaner. I'd drive it on the street...

Not sure if it's the same one, but it sure sounds sweet:

Based on the quick change job on the number, I'd say same car. 55, 56, 155...you don't see many sixes with a squared off top and a round bottom.

    Wondering why he re-listed it.

The Mangusta (Italian for mongoose, the only animal that can catch and kill a Cobra... get the picture? ) was a very cool Euro-American hybrid, back when that wasn't a hideous word in car culture. Marrying a big V8 with a great body and drivetrain was an easy recipe for a fast car, and this was a very good one. It's one of my favourites, only pipped from top spot by the style supremo, the Iso Grifo. That one makes me go weak at the knees...

    Cheers, Eddie

The Pantera gets all the press, and it's not that it isn't a great car, but the Mangusta or Vallelunga would be my first choice.
Always looking for more pics or info on early (pre-Y2K) Fox Body Mustang Pro 5.0 class racers, magazine test cars, etc.
