I'm looking at AFR 185's later on, and may rethink the cam then as well.
In an 1800# car, it's fun no matter how you slice it.
I know you asked this question 3 months ago, but I'd thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

Depending on the supporting systems, induction, exhaust, etc., that engine should have no problem making 325-335 horsepower.

As for the heads, I've never been a fan of the AFR Ford stuff. Unless you could find a hell of a deal on a used set, I'd stick with the GT40s.
Always looking for more pics or info on early (pre-Y2K) Fox Body Mustang Pro 5.0 class racers, magazine test cars, etc.

You might want to contact Bob Tullius, retired owner of the British Leyand Group 44 Racing Team. He's got a place at Sebring on the airport (Group 44 Hangar, 44 Victory Lane, Sebring, Florida) or he can be found on LinkedIn. He's very accessible, and he knows more about these cars than most. He can tell you exactly where the weak points are in the frames and in the body structure, as Group 44 raced them for years and did a lot of modifications to them to make them reliable. HIs engineer, Brian Furstenau, did a lot of stress and fatigue analysis when they frirst started racing these cars that could help you pinpoint potential trouble spots. Cool project!

Well, thanks to Fast Ed, I have the brackets I need to put Mustang GT rotors on the back, and thanks to my landlord, I have more shop space to play with. He even threw in a basic frame table, so now I can put the frame up where I can work on it.

You mean Mustang Cobra rotors, right? If you order GT rotors to go with those brackets, you'll find the rotors to be about 1-1/2" too small!!

Funny this comes back up. We are headed to the shop today to get it set up on the frame table. I'm on summer break from school, so progress shots should follow. Time to prioritize the irons in the fire before they get consumed by it.

Nice little car (by your standards) many years ago (1970's) I did some custom work on my Uncle's GT6. What I used to flare the rear wings was another set of wings from the top seam out and from the leading edge swage line, spaced them out about 2" and used the swage line as the start of a brake cooling duct (NASCAR-style ?) I then eliminated the rear lights on top of the wing by making a contour which followed the shape, mounting a newer design lamp unit lower down. Just a thought.
